In this post of Power BI consulting, we will explain the different ways to integrate Power BI reports with SharePoint online. In the past, Microsoft has announced the integration of Power BI reports with SharePoint online.
This feature is called Power BI Reporting Services. It allows users to access reports and dashboards from within their SharePoint sites. You can use these reports from any browser on the internet. It provides a unique experience for Power BI users.
This report can be integrated into SharePoint online using the following methods:
Power BI Reporting Services – This is the new method that has been announced recently. Users can now directly access the reports and dashboards from within their SharePoint sites.
Power BI Service Application – This is the older method that has been supported since SharePoint 2013. In this method, you will need to create a Power BI service application first.
After that, you will need to enable the reporting services feature in your SharePoint site. Then you can access the reports and dashboards from any browser on the internet.
Embed Power BI reports
You can also embed Power BI reports in your own custom web pages or blogs. To do that, you need to create a web part in your SharePoint site. It contains the embed code for the report. You can then publish this web part to your site.
It can be published in a normal way. This means you can use it like any other web part. Share this content The second option is to publish the report directly from Power BI. The report can be published in two ways:
Use the Share button in the Power BI window On the Home tab of the ribbon (File > Publish to Web) Use the Share icon on the toolbar (File > Share) Share this content This allows you to use the embed code in your own website.
In order to do that, you have to set up a personal access token for your account. This token will be needed for authentication when publishing the report. To create a personal access token, follow these steps:
Open the Power BI service: Open the Personal access tokens section in the left navigation bar
Click New: Personal access token The personal access token will be created and added to the list. The token is a unique ID that will allow you to authenticate as the user who created the token.
It can be used to access the content from any other Power BI account. If you already have a token, you can use it. If you don’t have one, then you will need to create one.
The following example uses the Personal access token. To set up the personal access token, follow these steps:
Go to the Power BI site in your web browser. Select Settings > Personal access tokens. Click New. Enter a name for the token. (For example, My personal access token.) A password is not required. Click Save.
Use the embed code Share this content The embed code can be used on websites and blogs. Use the embed code below to embed a Power BI report in your website or blog. Copy the embed code and paste it into your website or blog.
Note: If you are using an embed code from another source, make sure that the report is published. The embed code needs to be copied into your site.
Personal Experience
I am working as a consultant for a small business and I have been tasked to integrate the company’s internal reporting into their SharePoint online site. We are using Power BI for this purpose.
The reports are generated from a SQL Server database, but my problem is that the reports need to be integrated with the SharePoint online site. I am aware of the following solutions: Integrate Power BI directly into SharePoint Online. This is not possible for us since we don’t own our own SharePoint server. We’re using Office 365.
