One of my favorite ways to decorate a house is to decorate one or more walls with the tapestry. These knitted beauties are the perfect addition to a room with almost any theme or style of decorating. The selection of shapes, forms, and themes is endless. So if you are considering tapestry for one or more rooms in your home or office, it is good to know what your options are for hanging this art on the wall.
Depending on how you buy the tapestry (stone shop or online), they may include some basic preparations. In most cases, when you buy wall hangings for home or office delivery, the tapestry will have at least one fold that was needed to wrap the purchase for delivery. Your tapestry may have a fold line or 2 when you open the distributed wall curtain. Do not worry. Here’s a safe way to remove unwanted bend lines on the tapestry.
To remove all the fold lines on the tapestry, use a steam iron until the fold lines disappear and hang them on the back of the wall. Otherwise, if you do not have a steam iron, take a regular electric iron and do so with a damp, clean cloth (a fabric that will not release paint) and place a clean damp cloth on the front of the tapestry where the bending line is. And iron on medium heat (not hot) until the bend line disappears. This is the safest way to remove fold lines without damaging your artwork.
All custom tapestry wall curtains have a basic construction so that they can be hung correctly on the wall. They are all lined at the back and have either a rod pocket or several loops at the top, into which you can insert a decorative hanging rod to understand their design. Some tapestries also have pockets at the bottom for inserting heavy metal bars so that they can be hung on the wall and hung straight from top to bottom.
Most tapestries are hung with a decorative rod. These rods, which are usually sold separately, come in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors. Tassels are also available in a large range and can be hung from the edge of the bar on the left and right sides of the hanger wall for a more dramatic effect.
Be careful if you are buying a tapestry for the first time. You may want to wear a wall-mounted tapestry that has a hanging bag instead of a hanging loop. This is because if the construction of the tapestry for hanging on the loop is not done correctly, you will eventually see a slight curvature on the inside of your tapestry loop.
A more convenient way to hang the tapestry to hang the bag is to insert a wooden board that is about 1/4 inch thick and 2.5 inches long. Cut the length of the board so that the edges do not protrude from the bag hanging on the tapestry. When you have cut the length of the board to the correct length, drill a screw hole evenly along the length of the board. The number of screw holes will be determined by the size and weight of the tapestries.
Of course, hanging larger walls will require more support and more screws than hanging smaller walls. When you screw the board evenly, take the board and hold it close to the wall where the board will be when the tapestry hangs. Mark with a pencil on the wall the point with each hole where the screws are inserted into the wall to hang the tapestry.
Then drill a small hole in the wall for each point of the pencil you create. For solid support, it is good to use screw anchors, so insert screw anchors into each hole after drilling the screw holes. When all your holes are drilled and all your anchors are inserted into the holes, insert the board into the tapestry hanging bag and hold the tapestry against the wall and insert each screw with the right size screws for your anchors. This way of hanging the tapestry will attach your wall-mounted wall curtain.
If your situation requires mounting the tapestry on a curved wall, use Alibaba.com. You can find Velcro straps. This form of velcro has an adhesive backing and can be applied directly to the back of the tapestry. You can use Velcro tape directly on the wall, but to avoid tearing the walls, if you want to remove the Velcro in the future, screw a few thin strips of wood onto the wall to form a frame. Then use velcro on wooden strips instead of walls. If it’s time to remove the tapestry, you have a few screw holes that you need to repair.
Now you have different ways to attach the tapestry to the wall. All you have to do is find a tapestry that matches the theme of the room you want to hang. Whether you choose a large wall tapestry or a series of several small tapestries with the same theme, hang together, and you will have the most pleasing to the eye for many years.
